| Day 1 BOARD YOUR OVERNIGHT TRANSATLANTIC FLIGHT.
Day 2 ARRIVE IN DUBLIN, IRELAND.
Welcome to Dublin! Upon arrival, you are met and transferred to your hotel by your chauffeur. This afternoon, your voyage of discovery begins with a city tour. Visit St. Patrick's Cathedral, founded in 1190, tour Dublin's beautiful Georgian squares, walk the cobbled courtyards of Trinity College to its famed library and its truly unique world treasure – the 8th century Book of Kells. The balance of the day is free in this exciting city.
Day 3 BOYNE VALLEY EXCURSION.
Travel to the Boyne Valley in County Meath. This river valley was the cradle of Irish civilization and supported a sophisticated society in Neolithic times. Witness this when you stop at the Bru-na-Boinne Centre to visit one of the most important Neolithic tombs at Knowth or Newgrange. These differ from the other passage graves by their very great size and pre-date the pyramids by more than 1,000 years. Return to the city, where the balance of the day is at your leisure. (B)
Day 4 DUBLIN / WEXFORD.
En route to Wexford visit Powerscourt, whose glorious formal gardens overlook a dramatic view of the Sugarloaf Mountain. Stop also at Glendalough,"Valley of the Two Lakes," famous for its early monastic ruins and scenic setting. Continue to the Viking fishing port of Wexford and overnight and dine at Marlfield House. Enjoy this Regency period house filled with antiques and set amidst 36 acres of woodland walks and flower gardens. (B,D)
Day 5 WEXFORD / KILLARNEY.
Your day starts with a visit to Blarney Castle with its magical stone that gives the gift of eloquence for a kiss. Stroll across to the Blarney Woollen Mills to shop for fine traditional knitwear and crafts. Then journey on to the charming town of Killarney. (B)
Day 6 THE RING OF KERRY.
A delightful day includes a drive along the dramatic coastline of the Iveragh Peninsula and through the charming villages of Killorgin, Cahirciveen, Waterville and Sneem. This is one of Ireland's loveliest districts, with spectacular land and seascapes. (B)
Day 7 KILLARNEY / DROMOLAND CASTLE.
Pass through pastoral farmlands, stopping at the Flying Boat Museum in Foynes. It was here that Irish coffee was invented. On to the picturesque village of Adare, then continue on to Dromoland Castle. This elegant 16th century baronial castle features luxurious accommodation in a splendid setting. (B)
Day 8 DEPART DROMOLAND.
A short transfer takes you to Shannon Airport. Your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B) |
