Additional Driver Charge

The person named on the reservation must be the main driver, present at the time of rental and payer of any rental charges.

Additional drivers are possible with a fee of €6.00 (including tax @13.5%) per day, for each additional driver.

Age - Maximum Age

The maximum age for rentals in Ireland is 79 years.
Clients aged 76 to 79 years must have the following documentation:

(1)    Note from their doctor stating that they are in good health

(2)    Note from their insurer's stating that they have not been involved in any accidents within the past 5 years

Age - Minimum Age

Age 23/24 – May rent from Group B & E only and will be charged a young driver surcharge of €26 per day including tax.

Age 25 – May rent from Groups B, C, E, F & S

Age 30+ - May rent any category

Cancellation/No Show Fee

CANCELLATION:

If you wish to cancel your reservation for any reason you must call us 2 business days prior to your reservation and advise us of the cancellation 

NO SHOW:

If you fail to cancel your reservation 2 business days prior to the arrival date and do not collect the vehicle on the pick up date, we reserve the right to make a No Show charge of EUR 50.00 (depending on the currency of your reservation), which covers our administration costs and compensates us for our inability to rent the vehicle when it was reserve for your use.

Infant & Booster Seats

Car seats are mandatory by law for children aged from 6 months to 4½ years in Ireland.

Hertz offers forward facing safety seats for children between 9kgs and 18 kgs from all agencies and for all vehicle groups for an additional fee of  €40 per rental (including tax) with a 24 hours' advance notice. The safety seat must be fitted by the renter for insurance purposes. You will be charged the amount of €101 if the seat is not returned at the end of the rental.

Delivery/Collection Service

Hertz does not offer a delivery and collection service in Ireland.

Drivers License

The driver must present a national driving license held for a minimum of one year at the time of rental for all vehicle groups except HPC (X6 and Y6) for which you will need to present a clean national driving license held for a minimum of 5 years.

Driving Restrictions

Hertz vehicles may be driven into Northern Ireland with no restrictions.

Hertz vehicles may be driven into the U.K. but not into other countries.  If driving into the U.K., you must purchase an AA 5-star cover at any AA office prior to the departure to the U.K. and inform the Hertz counter upon your arrival.  Please refer to "London Congestion Charging" in the United Kingdom's index if you intend to drive in or to drop the vehicle off in Central London.

Should these restrictions be ignored all insurance (Third Party Liability, CDW, TP, PAI), if accepted, shall be deemed, null and void.  The driver will be held fully responsible in case of accidents and will bear all consequences, including the cost of repatriation of the damaged vehicle.

Insurance-Collision Damage Waiver

This option limits your financial liability for damage to the Hertz vehicle, its parts and accessories, except theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

If you choose to rely on your credit card (Diners Club or Gold/Platinum Mastercard) for CDW coverage, we strongly recommend that you fully understand the terms and conditions of any coverage provided by your credit card company before you decline any of our optional services.  If CDW is declined, you will be responsible for damage to the Hertz vehicle up to the amount of the deductible ranging from EUR 15,000.00 (including tax) to EUR 90,000.00 (including tax) depending on the vehicle rented.

CDW Non-Waivable Excess.   All rentals are subject to a non-waivable excess ranging from EUR 650.00 to EUR 1,200.00, depending on the vehicle group, for which you are responsible in the event of damage to the Hertz vehicle during the rental.

You can further reduce your excess liability – Please see "Super CDW" for more details.

Insurance-Personal Accident

This option covers the authorized drivers, the passengers and the personal effects.

* Does not include money, valuable papers, jewelry, securities or collections.

As with any insurance policy, there are exclusions which affect the cover provided; full details of the cover and conditions are contained in a leaflet that is available from each rental agency.

Insurance-Super CDW

If you opt for CDW cover, you may also wish to purchase an additional protection, Super CDW, to waive the already limited liability in case of damage to the Hertz vehicle. Super CDW is an option sold at the discretion of the location and subject to availability.

Super CDW is not available for customers on business contract rate rentals, cash rentals or for drivers under 30 years of age.

SCDW does not cover theft, vandalism unless TP is also purchased, damaged tires, lost keys, use of incorrect fuel.

Insurance-Theft Protection

This option limits your financial liability, subject to the terms of the rental agreement, for loss of or damage to the Hertz vehicle due to theft, attempted theft or vandalism, its parts and accessories, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement.

If TP is declined, and the vehicle is lost or damaged due to theft, vandalism or attempted theft, you will be responsible up to the amount of the deductible ranging from EUR 15,000.00 (including tax) to EUR 90,000.00 (including tax) depending on the vehicle rented.

If you decide not to purchase TP, you may be required to provide a security of EUR 2,000.00 at the commencement of the rental using your credit card. This amount will be used towards the loss of the rented vehicle.

The above does not apply to Contract rates and/or Hertz #1 Gold customers.

TP Non-Waivable Excess.

Basic insurance includes at no additional charge unlimited cover against bodily injury to persons other than the driver and property damage to anything other than the rented vehicle.

Location Service Charge

LSC is an additional @ €26 per rental including tax.

Luggage Racks

Luggage Racks are currently not offered in Ireland

Mobile Phones

Hertz does not currently offer mobile phone rental in Ireland.

One Way Rentals

One way rentals are free of charge between Dublin, Cork, & Shannon Airports.

One Way Rental Charges to all other Southern Ireland Locations:

For rentals of 3 to 4 days is €70   / For rentals of 5+ days is €25

One Way Rental Charges to Northern Ireland (Belfast City, Belfast Airport, Derry Airport):  €160

One Way Rental Charges to England (London Airports or city):  €650 

Payment

Methods of payment accepted for the Gaffney Travel / Hertz Bookings are limited to major credit cards.

Acceptable credit cards are: Access, American Express, Barclay Card, Diners Club, Eurocard, Hertz Charge Card, Japanese Credit Bureau, Mastercard, Mileage Plus First Card, Optima, Vector, Visa.  

To rent a HPC vehicle (X6 or Y6) you will need to present two acceptable credit cards.

At the time of the reservation, the credit card is used as a guarantee.

At the time of rental, an authorization is obtained on your credit card based on the estimated rental charges; there must be sufficient credit on your card to cover all charges.

Refueling Options

Hertz rates do not include fuel.
All Hertz vehicles are rented with a full tank and must be returned with a full tank or a local refueling charge will apply.

Fuel Purchase Option (FPO).
For your convenience, you may purchase a tank of fuel from Hertz at the time of rental at a price that is competitive with local fuel stations.  This method eliminates the need for you to refill the tank before returning.  Please be aware that we are unable to give a refund for unused fuel.  

Rental Period-Hours Grace

Rentals are charged in a 24 hour time period (i.e. if you pick up at 11:00am your rental is valid until 11:00am on the day of return).  Hertz does extend a 2-hour grace period to Gaffney Travel clients.

Taxes

All Rates Include the Government Tax (VAT) of 13.5%
